I was photographing Rampage for an editorial that was going to be featured in Essence Magazine and I asked him about his howl. He said he’d been doing it since he was a kid and he got so good at it, that he could do it in the woods or the mountains and Wolves and dogs would respond, like he was one of them,
I asked him if he’d do the howl for me one time that I wanted to capture it properly and he said.. Ok. I’ll do it once, so if you don’t catch it, that’s your bad.
He let the howl rip and it echoed through the studio like there was a pack of wolves in the room. Aside from Rampage’s steel chain, his howl is about as signature as it gets.
